The University of The Gambia Students Union today at the West Coast Region Governor’s Office Conference Room took part in a Town Hall Meeting to dialogue amidst Gambia’s electoral cycle.
This meeting convened by the Directorate of Research and Consultancy of the University of The Gambia with support from the United Nations Development Programme focused on the discourse around Reinforcing Peace Messages on Political Tolerance & Non-Violence Towards Free, Inclusive, Credible and Peaceful Parliamentary Elections in The Gambia.
Accordingly, it also featured the meaningful presentation of findings of a study on this theme followed by a Panel discourse that thoughtfully engaged students as they pledge for peace.
We wish to thank sub-association leaders for their stellar support towards the success of the event. Accordingly, we extend similar sentiments to the UTG-DoRC and UNDP for convening such a thoughtful meeting to discuss issues that matter to all.
The Union maintains that civic awareness is key in the fight against electoral violence. Thus, we call on stakeholders to invest in this realm as students are great ambassadors to champion such a civic behavioural change. We wish to recommit ourselves to advancing efforts that are geared towards promoting peace and all forms of tolerance in the interest of national development.
Peace up, Gambia ✌
