The University of The Gambia Students’ Union, in partnership with Green-up Gambia, Gambia Environmental Alliance (GEA) and Growing Green Communities, commemorated World Earth Day 2022. This commemoration was done in a very engaging fashion, which involved the conduct of a host of green activities geared towards contributing to environmental sustainability for the protection our marine life, biodiversity and ecosystem in general.

As the month of April was entirely dedicated to Earth globally, the UTGSU’s commemoration kick-started with a Clean Up Exercise at Joyehto Beach in Bijilo at on Saturday, 16th April, 2022.

We live in a global village that harbors the desires, actions and quests of all living beings and the pursuit for progress could in a way affect the environment. Thus, it is crucial to mitigate human-induced pollutions to attain sustainability.

The Council, in collaboration with its partners in development, remains resolute in championing environmental actions that will help in safeguarding the posterity of all in a very positive environment where all can reach their full potentials. Thus, we implore and challenge all students and environmentalists to take ownership of this initiative and play their quota in handing over a clean earth to the next generation.
